Why aerial Yoga?
So I have had the good fortune of probably being one of the first people to have started aerial yoga in goa and I must say that it has been absolutely fabulous!
I've come across so many people and each one responds differently to aerial yoga. Some have completely transformed while some have not taken to it too much. The biggest challenge has been the fear to let go for many. And as a teacher, it becomes my duty to help them and make them feel safe. It is safe to say that aerial yoga makes my students challenge themselves and dig deeper to find the courage to push themselves. And THAT is my main aim. The more I go deeper into my practice and the teachings of the masters , I find that Yoga is meant to be challenging. In the challenge does one attain awareness of their breath and the present moment. In the challenge do the organs of the body start functioning better than before.Observe that I mention challenge and not strain. There is a world of a difference between the 2. I find that extremely interesting.
My experience has been that people react in 2 ways. They either say it is too diffcult and it is not for me or they simply love it even if they don't get anything in the first class! And bam! That's a win! It is never about the asana in the end. It is the journey and the process that led you to the asana. It is the joy of seeing where you were and where you have come. That's what makes this so much fun for me.
I am blessed to have students who challenge me as a teacher and it is my privilege to keep evolving with them.
I am thoroughly amazed by human potential, intrigued by how positive encouragement can make people try things they would have never dreamed of and how age is just a number in our head.
I aim to keep making people fly and share laughter, love and stories to remember in the process!
Stay tuned for my next post where I share all of my retreat details coming up in November.
