The electricity running through us
Now, have you met a lot of people in your life who seem to say this line on repeat? The line is always the same. Just the words might change. It goes something like - " I don't know why but I just keep getting negative thoughts" or " Somehow I don't think I can do it " or " I'm pretty sure that this isn't meant for me".
Now all these thoughts have an underlying similarity and the similarity would be a sense of less self worth. Or a sense of not being able to believe that the best things are meant for you. Have you ever been on that same bus? I definitely have and I know plenty of other people still taking that ride.
What I can do for you is tell you how to get down from this bus and take the bus that would take you to where you would want to go. Not a bus where the driver is incharge and not you. You are the driver and you are incharge. Of everything.
So I came across something very interesting in this book.
So here goes-
The mind is divided into 2 integral parts. One being the conscious and the other being the subconscious. Now the subconscious is at a much deeper level and it has been picking up and storing memories, Images and opinions from the time you were a child. So you can say that it has formed a video cassette of you by the time you become an adult. All from the memories and pictures that have been AROUND you. Very important to keep in mind the word AROUND you. After a certain point, this video in your subconscious plays on repeat and repeat and repeat. Sometimes the cassette has a pleasant story and sometimes not. Mine did not have a pleasant story. I lost my mom when I was 10 and suffered from huge sense of loss for almost a decade. The love that wasn't recieved in one arena of my life was searched for in every other relationship. Ofcourse that did not leave me with much satisfaction at all. Not to mention, a sense of disconnect with myself.
Now what helped me come back is this-
I accepted the cassette. I stopped fighting it and wondering why I would get such bad thoughts. I went for vipassana which is a 10 day silent meditation retreat where I had a life changing, eye opening experience. I saw memories as threads. Floating, suspended and always visible. But somehow I had latched myself onto the sad memories and hence that is what started coloring the entire palette of my life. I have no doubts that because of Vipassana, because of the deep state of relaxation that it induced, that I was able to see things a lot more objectively. I could see many more threads now. SOOOOO many more. Vivid and vibrant and each one asking me to really look at it. And then I saw. All I needed to do was pay attention to each and every thread of memory and when I did that with LOVE, the threads no longer came back. It's almost like each memory just wanted the due respect of closure.
Coming back to the cassette, I started seeing the reasons behind why the cassette showed me that movie instead of fuming at the movie itself and things started becoming even clearer. I am seeker. An ardent one and I know that deep down, all of us are.
The subconscious mind is designed to have negative thoughts. Just like how an atom has a negative and positive charge, that is the same way that the mind functions. The mind also needs negative and positive to create energy or electricity. The Subconscious is actually waiting for the Conscious Mind to guide it through the power of WILL. With the power of will, they find harmony. They become one.
Try this, when a negative thought comes, try to say something positive in relation to that out loud and observe how you feel. You will immediately feel a lot more powerful and better in general.
So the negative thoughts are not bad at all. It is just how the mind is designed and it is actually a marvel. The mind. It is marvellous in its depths and its potential and with the power of will, positive affirmations to the self through the day, encouragement through tough times, the mind can actually become your strongest tool capable of magnificent breakthroughs and realisations.
ACCEPTANCE of the cassette as it is being the first step.
GOING BACK IN TIME to see where the movie was formed, from which memories is the second.
OBSERVING the painful memories in a state of neutrality and objectivity by detaching onself is the third
POSITIVE IMPULSES to replace the sitting negative ones would be the most important one. It takes some time to change long established thought patters but they are completely worth it and its amazing to see how the mind is simply a tool of repetition. What you repeat, become your reality.
I would love to know your take on this idea and how do you balance your thoughts out. Each opinion is precious. Each process is a chance for us to learn from each other.
On that note,
Happy weekend!
