Physical practice is mental peace

Now here is a secret.

A secret to a happy and a balanced life and mind. A physical practice of your own.

Yes, that is absolutely essential and a complete non negotiable if you love feeling good and in tune.

I can tell you what a physical practice does to me in the simplest way possible.

It connects me to my body . That's it. No rocket science. Nothing deeper than that. And when I am connected with my body, I am naturally connected to my breath as well. And when I'm connected to my breath, I am PRESENT.
I am here. Feeling the muscle contracting, feeling the swoosh of air inside and outside my nostrils, feeling my feet touching the earth, feeling the slight tinge of pain in my right shoulder, feeling my arms caress the wind as I move, feeling my eyes look into horizon with gratitude that I can use this wonderful instrument called the body to connect to something that is much more on a subtle level. This subtle level of awareness is happy where it is. Trust me, I don't have it all the time. The mind, by the power of habit, sometimes goes into the past or naturally worries about the future and the next thing to come.

And a physical practice is grounding. Call it getting connected with the earth that we walk on, call it understanding or seeking to understand that there is much more to reality than we can see at the moment. All I can say is that it exists. Very much so.

And each of us may have a different practice that we find grounding. For some it may be walking, for some running, for some dancing, for some yoga, for some lifting, for some cycling and so on and so forth. But they all always leave you in a better state of mind.

This is your body. This is your gift. This is your blessing, Use it wisely and use it a lot! We all are still the same children who love playing and some thing just never grow old.

From this week, I will go for a daily walk which is an activity that I must do for this course that I am undertaking.

So what are your grounding activities?
