You are a Tree

Yes, you heard it right.

YOU, looking at the screen right now, are a tree. And a tree knows from the beginning what it's going to be- A tree.
A tree doesn't try to become a horse or a rat or an aeroplane for that matter.

A tree follows its path.

We are all trees as well.

Born with a natural inclination. Born with a gift. That gift calls us many a time in our lives. Many many times. Some of us hear it and some of us ignore it. Your deep interest in painting or photography or writing or dancing or film making or becoming a pilot, all of that counts. All of those were callings.

But what most of us end up doing is going against that calling and what you start creating is called "THE TWIN TREE" Phenomenon.

The twin tree is created when you don't follow the path of your own seed. When you don't listen to what the internal call is and instead pay attention to what the external demands are. Money, Recognition, Stability and so on and so forth. Now there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with all those desrires but somehow a lot of people find it hard to believe that they can get all of that BY following their inner calling.

How many of you have felt an inner conflict when faced with following a life of stability versus a life of your dream passion or hobby?

How many of you are following the secure path but secretly still dream of following your own dream?

How many of you think that following a secure path will give you the freedom to follow a lot of your dreams? And without that you won't be able to do it?

Through my life I have heard a lot of times that the life of an artist is hard or that an artist doesn't make enough money to live by or that an artist can follow their passion only so long. Bogus. All of it. A real artist will do what it takes to excel and there is always room for excellence.

All of those and many more have been conditioned beliefs projected by individuals who, for various circumstances, could not follow their own dreams. Behind every pessimist is an unlived dream , an untold tale and more than a few unshed tears. It is not their fault at all. They were simply not supported at the time that they needed to be.

Coming back to the "TWIN TREE" Phenomenon,

what happens inside us, within us , is what intrigues me the most.
The moment we deviate from our "Seed" or calling, we start creating a new tree and that tree is sucking the nourishment that your seed tree required. Hence, there will always be a sense of unease, a kind of incomplete feeling within, that nagging that somehow never goes. That's because you have created the conflict. You have created a twin tree when all you needed was one. It's not easy to chop off the twin tree and we don't need to. But to find a path to real happiness and peace, we should atleast start acknowledging the existence of the seed and what it is trying to tell us.

So I ask you this week to take one baby step towards your seed.
Maybe enroll for that program you always wanted, go inside that classroom and become that child again. Even for that one hour. Just do it and see how it feels.

It's a question of authentic happiness and what makes life really worth living. It's a question that matters.

Feel free to share with me your moments of conflict and if you've ever experienced the Twin Tree Phenomenon.
I would be happy to hear what we all have to say.

Love from Goa
